Happy Monthiversary!
Today marks one month of daily posts on Bossy Femme.
I’ve gotta tell you, it feels pretty nice. Thanks one more time to each and every one of you who has said something kind about this blog over the last month or so. I write here because it makes me happy but it’s even better to know that you femmes are into it, too.
This month I:
- Defined what femme means to me
- Talked about what it feels like to have a personal understanding of your hotness
- Dyed my hair blue
- Embraced my hipster identity
- Made friend-crush art for some favourite femmes
- Said “see you around” to some friends who moved away
- Wrote my first “Band Girlfriend” post
- DIY-ed a sweater
- Wrote my first (probably not last) post about my love for Beyonce
- Made you a mix tape
When I started out I didn’t give myself a lot of rules about what I should be posting or when – just that I should be posting every day. Keeping up this self-imposed rule has been really helpful. I am a super perfectionist and what that usually means is that if I can’t do something completely and without flaws I will not do it at all. Needing to post something – anything! – on days when I felt uninspired or too tired or too busy has resulted in a lot of content that I am happy with. And that I didn’t agonize over forever & ever before completing it, which is a big change for me. This is a lesson I’m going to try to remember.
“Good enough” is way better than “never accomplished.”
I plan to be at this a long time so I’ve started to feel okay about having more left to say. There are other posts to come. I can follow-up.
All that said, I’ve decided to lighten the posting schedule just a bit around here. I’m going to take Saturdays off, because you guys are all social butterflies with busy weekends, and none of you are even reading that day anyway. Come back Sunday to tell me about your good things, though! Reading the comments on those posts are my fav.
Alright! See ya tomorrow!
