Knit it…or don’t: The Knit Kid & The Purl Bee

The Knit Kid
On Sunday I linked to The Knit Kid’s super amazing etsy shop. I am so into everything going on there… the cuts, the drape of the fabric, the colours! Go check it out if you didn’t yet.
My favourite, of course, is this black mohair and merino silk tunic dress. In Canadian dollars, it costs… about half of my rent. And it freaking should! Knitting takes a long time to do. Good quality materials aren’t cheap.
I often tell people who want me to knit them things, or who suggest that I sell my knits, that they’re looking at a scarf that would cost a couple hundred bucks if I paid myself minimum wage for my time. I only knit for people who really understand what it takes to make something wearable out of a long piece of string.
Still, I love knitting. (Duh!) So I was really excited when I saw this Cap Sleeve Lattice Top, posted today on The Purl Bee (free pattern overload, don’t say I didn’t warn you.) I like this take on a sweater with a more open and airy shoulders.
Knowing me, I will (someday) knit this in black. Or grey. Or blue-black? Maybe tunic length? Nothing I like better than a black tunic-length sweater. I am liking the look of this colourway…
PS: If this godawful humidity ever lets up I will have some knitting of my own to show you. A few things are air-drying right now and it’s taking forever…
