Femme style: wool & leather
Most of my style fantasies are about combining knits with leather & lots and lots of texture.
I really am into this look especially the unconventional effect of that double-breasted vest. But also, the buckles on the boots! The oxblood bag with black boots! That blazer! That haircut! That chill demeanour. Damn.
I found this photo last night on tumblr & my immediate thought was that I would move in to this outfit as if it was an apartment. I love this silhouette enough that I feel like I’m looking at a home, not an outfit. It took some doing but I finally found the source – Ovate. All black everything – all black sheer & textured & layered & draped everything. One day I really want to own these leather leggings.
My apartment floors get so cold & I am way too broke to turn the heat on this early & these slippers are perfect for me. The wool is insulating & the leather bottom won’t collect all of the dog fur that is all over everything in my house. I checked the WoolyBaby website and I am precisely in between kids and adult sizes, though – does anyone want to help me learn to sew leather?
As a teenage ballerina I totally wore a pair of ballet slippers as “indoor shoes” at school. Obviously I had decorated them with nail polish & they had little bells on them because I was twee as fuck. I would never ever recommend ballet shoes for outdoors but I *do* have a pair of black ballet flats from h&m that might get this treatment super-soon.
Thus far I’ve stuck with wearing my handmade knits with leather stuff – but I like the idea of adding leather components to the knits themselves. Really into the way that this leather clip adds some shape to this big bulky cowl.
I just bought myself a new leather jacket that was so awesome it didn’t even make it on to the sales floor at my vintage clothing heaven/hangout/workplace. When it cools down a bit more I will definitely try some of this stuff out…

And THIS is why I love you…
Fuck your blog is so awesome Iris!! All of these photos are amazing. I looooove the black cloak and leather leggings…amazing! You’re totally right too, knits with leather? SUCH a good time!!
Let’s hangout and knit and smell leather together, ok?
Oh you know I’m always ready for a knitting hangout.
