SELF-MADE: Fortnight

I knit this hat to send in the mail to a crafty internet friend. It was my first extensive project with cables, which were so, so much fun to do. So glad I finally took the time to learn.

This year I have pom-pom fever and can’t resist adding one to everything. I find myself having an instant crush on anyone wearing a pom-pom hat and I’m not afraid to admit it. This friend is totally crush-worthy already, so, naturally, I pom-pom-ed the shit out of this hat for her.

I also couldn’t resist a portrait before shipping it out…

The pattern is called “Fortnight”, by Jared Flood. Even more photos and notes on Ravelry. Seriously, designers like Jared Flood are basically why I wanted to be able to knit to begin with. Someday I dream about having the time and yarn dollars to make one of his blankets, like my fav, Umaro:

Cuddle up with me under that, somebody, okay?

One of my dearest friends gave me hand knitted scarves for my birthday two years in a row. Hand made cozy bits and bobs are the best.
